"Madonna" Questions

1.Madonna gained her fame partially by having a risque look and by singing about things like virginity, pregnancy, and money. How do you view her ad an artist in relation to Waters and Dylan, some of whose songs are, perphaps, more "serious"?
---I think Madonna could be an artist famous over the world, now she had been a part of American culture, not only because she was sexy, but also her had a excellent ability of performing. We can not judge her works just by vuglar lyrics. She foucs the problems of real society that most people were shame to talk. She were brave to talk about these, and said her idea in the songs. That was a great singer's mojo.

2.Madonna has kissed women, dated Lation and African-American men,and features sex and sexuality prominently in her videos and books.Do you think her variedtastes are just for show or publicity or do you think her openness is a postitve attribute?Explain your answer.

3.How do you see,or do you see,the history and culture of the 60s and 70s in Madonna's music?

  1. Hi James,

Great response! I agree that today we need to consider more than just a singer's ability to carry a tune. Madonna is incredibly energetic as a performer and incredibly savvy as a business woman. I also like how you used the word mojo! :)

I like madonna's attitude to her own life. Why can not we just let it be, any criticsm is not necessary to accuse others' uniqe life style.

  3. Yes, I agree, James. People seem to spend too much time worrying about other people. Being a good person--treating others well--is all that I really care about. Looking forward to your presentation!
